Food, Culture & Capacity Building
A story of resilience, heritage, and culinary passion
Third-Generation Cook & Entrepreneur
"Cooking has always been where my mind settles, my heart softens, and my creativity feels free. AfroFusionPlate is heritage made modern, culture made accessible, and strength turned into flavour."
My name is Regina Hipaingba, and I am the founder of AfroFusionPlate — a culinary journey shaped by three generations of strong African women. I came to Australia at five years old, after my family fled the war. My mother — a single mother — rebuilt our lives from nothing with courage, discipline, and love.
And my grandmother, who owned a restaurant in Africa, taught me the joy of feeding people, the warmth of hospitality, and the magic of turning simple ingredients into comfort. I grew up watching her cook, serve, and bring community together with food.
After walking away from a painful chapter of my life, I rebuilt everything for myself and my two boys, standing in the same strength my mother and grandmother once carried. Cooking became my healing — a place where I rediscovered peace, purpose, and identity.
I opened this brand in 2022 because cooking became my healing. Even when I stepped away for a year, I returned stronger, clearer, and more determined to share the beauty of African cuisine with Australia.

Founded the brand as a journey of healing and heritage

AfroFusionPlate is more than a restaurant. It is heritage made modern. It is culture made accessible. It is strength turned into flavour.
Every bowl is inspired by our roots across Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Congo, Cameroon, and Senegal — lovingly reimagined for the modern Australian palate.
I want my sons to grow up knowing their mother built something meaningful, lasting, and rooted in who we are.
